The good news has continued for the World Jewellery Federation (CIBJO) with the confirmation of a new partnership with The Birmingham Assay Office (BAO).
Described as a ‘major milestone’ in the industry, the agreement will include information exchange, joint research projects, technical assistance, and new initiatives concerning industry practices and standards.
The partnership was signed on 23 June by CIBJO president Gaetano Cavalieri and BAO CEO Doug Henry.
“Today’s agreement marks a significant step forward for our organisations and for the global jewellery industry as a whole,” Cavalieri said.
“We look forward to working closely with BAO to enhance our collective knowledge, innovate, and raise industry standards even further.”
The partnership will also include a focus on improving consumer protection and the endorsement of digital solutions in hallmarking, testing, and certification processes.
“This agreement with CIBJO represents a natural alignment of our objectives and interests. We are thrilled to be embarking on this journey, working together to protect consumers and maintain the integrity of our industry,” Henry said.
Further details about the specific areas and projects for cooperation will be outlined in subsequent annexes to the agreement.
